How the game works

You start with just two characters, K and M, sent at full speed. Type what you hear. Once 18 of your last 20 answers are right, a new character is added. It sounds slow at first – that’s the point: you learn each sound as a whole rhythm, not as a count of dots and dashes.

Characters are sent at the speed you choose (20 words per minute by default), with extra space between them so you have time to answer. This is the Koch method with Farnsworth spacing, the combination most clubs recommend.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to learn Morse code?
With the Koch method and 10–20 minutes a day, many people can copy all letters and numbers at a slow conversational speed in one to three months. It varies a lot from person to person.
Why start at full speed?
At slow speeds your brain counts dots and dashes, a habit that becomes a wall later. At 15–20 WPM each character is short enough to be heard as one sound.
